Travel Grants and Registration Fee Waivers

Twenty Four FEMS early career scientist (ECS) travel grants of 250 Euros each will be provided to the first 24 selected abstracts from ECS participants – the money will be provided after completion of the meeting (FEMS requires a report first). Please note that the definition of ECS by FEMS is “An Early Career Scientist is an active microbiologist who obtained their highest academic degree (Bachelor, Master or PhD) less than five years prior to the application deadline date, or is currently a Masters or PhD student. Periods of maternity/paternity and long-term sick leave do not count towards this 5-year limit.” The grantees need to be a FEMS member or to be endorsed by a FEMS member (for those in the latter situation the CGUE scientific committee will endorse).

The International Society of Protistologists (ISOP) and Moore Foundation are also contributing to early career support though a variety of mechanisms.
